I’m experiencing a minor case of information overload. I have an education hangover. I went through two pens, half a notebook, and Evernote is bloated. This weekend I attended the 2013 Blog Elevated Conference. It was a busy two days, but well worth it. I learned a lot from all the great speakers and have a 19 item action list to show for it, not to mention the plethora of web links I wrote down to check out later.
Even though this is the inaugural year for the conference, the organizers did an excellent job of pulling everyone and everything together. For one, John Saddington was the keynote speaker. Now that’s one way to come out of the gate.
It was apparent that they followed the Go-Giver’s Five Laws of Stratospheric Success, whether aware or not. The one law that was apparent throughout the whole event:
The Law of Value
Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.
This could not have been more true. With the amount of information that was given out over two days from some of the industry’s top professionals, there is no way that the cost of the event could have matched the amount of value received.
In addition to the speakers, time slots were given for study hall, a time to connect with the speakers and apply what was learned. The sponsors helped to make sure everyone was taken care of, including lunch in CityCentre.
I now know more about analytics, SEO, entrepreneurship, branding, social media, legal stuff, and publishing than I ever could have taught myself. In all, I believe it was a great success and I look forward to going next year.
